Down in the Dump(er)s!

Don't let a puncture ruin your day

For most businesses a puncture is at the very least a cost and an inconvenience but for many businesses the cost and downtime can be considerable.

This is particularly true for the building industry where key equipment like forklifts and dumper trucks often suffer regular punctures and the downtime affects productivity on site.

A building company who suffered regular punctures has recently become a customer after initially trialling Puncturesafe in some of their equipment.  This has now been extended to cover all their plant and road vehicles following the success of the trial.

It was particularly gratifying to receive their feedback. The person responsible for the plant and vehicles was "very sceptical", having been involved in the industry for nearly 40 years. He is now fully on board with the benefits, having seen a "significant" reduction in punctures of around 90% in his estimate. The other 10% being valve issues and other major tyre damage.

Part of this success has been educating the driver to have the confidence to remove puncturing objects and simply drive the vehicle a short distance to enable the fluid to seal the remaining hole. On one call out, 17 nails where removed from the tyres on a telehandler with all sealing, much to the surprise of the driver!

Another benefit for the company is the van tyre pressures remaining constant during the weekly checks where they had been experiencing some regular air loss and slow punctures.

Punctures do not have to be an issue; there are products available to enable tyres to become ‘self sealing’ for most routine punctures across all industry equipment and vehicle types.
